Through the Keyhole

Through the Keyhole

by Mel Sherrer

Two women
laugh in a couch-pile
of game controllers, potato chips,
a supine tabby cat preening.

They may have just made dinner
passing around each other unconsciously,
sleepwalkers, cooing over cutting boards.

They may have just made love
leaving the sheets cast to the floor,

the world locked out of the room.
