Stigmata

Stigmata

By Kyra Lambert

Redness swells and burns
Spreads across my chest
Smoke almost lifts through my pores
I scratch at my palms
I claw the souls of my feet
My nails leave little oxblood half moons
Cutting up my velvet
Is there a religion in some aches?
In losing you I learned the body can withstand
Any and All
Even still,
I kneel at your altar every evening
