Visual Art Feature With Dre Levant

I first started taking art seriously with an ink pen in hand. I created detailed pictures of flowers and animal bones, elegantly and lovingly placing each line. I have a huge love for this style – it’s what got me started in selling art, getting commissions, and it showed me how meditative art could be. Lately, though, I’ve discovered just how much fun art made of scribbles can be. Armed with Sharpies, crayons, oil pastels, and ink brushes, I’ve been letting my playful, intuitive side take over as I scribble quick and colourful portraits. This type of art has reminded me of the absolute joy of uninhibited art that isn’t trying to be perfect by any means, it is only trying to express. Now, I love to pick up whatever materials call to me and create what feels right and joyous and beautiful in that moment.
